Amicor has been inspired by a strategic objective to infuse our
every day textiles and furnishings and deliver a deeper level of
cleanliness that supports human health. Our Strategic Research
Programme is thorough and underpins everything that we do.
Fibre Chemistry
Amicor was
engineered by specialists in Fibre Chemistry over a three year
period of intensive Research & Development at the world-renowned
Courtaulds PLC, R & D Facilities in Coventry, UK.
The
Development Team ensure that Amicor and Amicor Pure have truly
beneficial properties in providing a new level of cleaniness
in textiles for homes, clothing and interiors.
A major
objective within the developmental strategies adopted by the
company was to make our products accessible to the
consumer. This meant that the fibre had to blended intimately
with cotton, wool, polyester and a whole range of other
speciality fibres.
This blend could then be woven into
many finished products to protect all from the growth of
micro-organisms; bacteria and fungi. The effect needed to be
tough enough to withstand industrial dyeing and finishing and
extensive home or hospital laundering.
Biological Research & Testing
By using
internationally recognised test methods we measure every single
new product’s anti-microbial effect. Using the right blends of
Amicor fibres, we certify individual products for our customers,
which are carried out to World Health Organisation standards.
Cambridge Entymology & Allergy UK have measured airborne dust
mite allergens in bedding materials as part of achieving their
Seal Of Approval.
Clinical Research
Research into human biology
with the first series of clinical trials. Current Trial Underway
at University College Worcester, National Pollen Research Unit.
Affiliates
Our Research Policy
means that we work with the best possible affiliate researchers
to provide market-credible evidence to support our claims and
benefits to consumers adopting Amicor textiles.
Our
product claims are always fully supported by papers from
independent organisations with authority in this field. For
example, the certification procedure that we use to test all
products before they enter the market is supported by BTTG and
Nottingham Trent University, in the UK.
The allergen
reduction claims for our bedding products are supported by the
Red Cross Hospital, Barcelona, Allergy UK and the National
Pollen Research Unit. Our Healthcare claims are supported by
clinical studies in the NHS. Medical Entomology Centre,
Cambridge University is currently supporting our next research
initiative into allergen reduction inside wool blend carpets.
All our consumer claims are justified by written research, which
can be provided on application. Amicor and Amicor Pure
have been ecologically approved by Oekotex.
'We like to
think that Amicor is the most secure way of delivering a healthy
bioactive effect within textiles…. '
